On September 4th, the IFA Aviation Training Center acquired a flight simulator, class FNPT II, completing another step in its flight school modernization strategy.
“An acquisition planned for 2018, it’s a huge investment which will bring us a significant increase on our training quality”, said Luis Giraldes IFA’s Marketing Director. “An essential training tool that enables students to acquire skills in a wide variety of aircraft ranging from single-engine and twin-engine to analog or digital panel as well as specific models such as ATR Cessna Citation and Airbus 320.”
The Alsim ALX acquired by the IFA is an EASA CS-FSTD A-FNPT II MCC simulator, which allows to replace flight hours per simulated flight hours in the PPL, CPL-Time, IR-ME courses up to 40 hours and MCC. In MPL courses its use covers Phases 1 and 2 for a total of 135 hours.
“Besides the reduction of operational costs, always to consider, the great advantage is effectively in the quality of the training since the simulator enables the training of different maneuvers and emergencies difficult to recreate in a real airplane, as well as exposing the students to different scenarios helping to develop their decision-making capacity in real cases. All this process in a controlled environment and with capacity of repeating the exercises until the student reaches the desired level”.
The simulator setup installation is scheduled for next December, followed by certification by the Portuguese regulator, ANAC, where IFA’s new flight simulator will be operational as early as the beginning of January, already covering the two Integrated ATPL courses that the IFA is currently running.
“After several testing visits and demonstrations, we decided on Alsim’s ALX simulator since we have confidence in the company’s credibility and in the quality of its products “, according to Luis Giraldes, “Alsim has been operating in the market for 24 years and has been present in 48 countries. In addition, the ALX model complied with all of our decision parameters which also included component modularity. In this case the acquisition was made including the FMS, the complex overhead panel and the medium jet throttle quadrant”.
The IFA Aviation Training Center is an Portuguese EASA Approved Training Center (ATO), which offers courses for Pilots and Cabin Crew.
