ALSIM returned to EAA Airventure Oshkosh, marking their second year exhibiting at one of the largest aviation gatherings in the world. Alsim’s booths in Hangar B were flowing with nonstop traffic from flight school owners and employees, university personnel, media, and general public eager to test-fly one of the simulators on the stand.
This year’s event brought over 600,000 attendees to Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, USA from July 23rdto 29th. For Alsim, the week included over 150 professional demonstrations in their AL250 and AL172 flight simulators. Alsim also invited youth attendees to test-fly the simulators on the weekend to spark an interest for future pilots.
Alsim played host to three celebrations during EAA Airventure, with two ribbon cutting ceremonies for new clients, and an “Alsimien’s” birthday. The AL250 and AL172 simulators on display at Alsim’s booths were accepted by their new owners in two separate commemorations. Fabio Montoya, director of Escuela de Aviacion Flying in Colombia, and his family accepted the AL250, marking Alsim’s first client in South America. The AL172 was accepted by David and Nayda Cattin, owners of Cirrus Aviation in Sarasota, Florida, a premiere flight school and Liberty University Flight Training Affiliate. Cirrus Aviation accepted the first AL250 in the US at EAA Airventure Oshkosh 2017, and this year added to their Alsim fleet. Additionally, Alsim team member Camille, a pilot herself who is part of the company’s Certification team, celebrated her 26thbirthday while at Airventure. There was cake, candles, and even a helicopter tour for Camille.
Also at Alsim’s stand was one of their newest clients, Kent State University. Josh Eyring, Director of Aircraft Maintenance at Kent State, and several flight instructors saw the simulators side by side for the first time. The university recently purchased two of each for their new Aeronautics Academic Center, and are scheduled to be installed in July next year.
The Alsim team attended Liberty University’s annual meet and greet, the University of Dubuque’s Alumni & Friends event, and sponsored the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI)’s Annual Member’s Breakfast.
Several media outlets covered Alsim’s numerous announcements during the week, including AOPA, Aviation Pros, EAA, and interviews with Aero-News Network, Association of Flight Simulators Builders and Instructors, and Frontlines of Freedom. Links to the articles are below:

ALSIM was invited to present at an online seminar for Georgia Tech’s Professional Master’s Degree in Applied Systems Engineering (PMASE). The seminar took place on Friday and Saturday January 26-27, 2018.
Jean Sebastien Chaulot, a lead technician for Alsim in America, spoke to the graduate students and academic staff about simulation in flight training, and how Alsim’s technical innovation can advance engineering students’ knowledge and experience. Jean discussed Alsim’s range of products, their training and learning value, and how the simulation works though Alsim’s developed and owned hardware, software, electronics and High Definition Visual System (HDVS). He also discussed Alsim’s new Engineering Pack that works with Matlab, a software environment for engineers and scientists used by hundreds of universities around the world.
The seminar was run by Dr. Margaret Loper, a principal research scientist at Georgia Tech Research Institute. Professor Loper has over 30 years of experience in modeling and simulation (M&S). When asked why Alsim’s participation was crucial for the seminar, Professor Loper said, “It’s important for PMASE students to learn how M&S is used to solve real world problems. The talk by Jean was a great example of how simulation is used to support the training phase of the systems engineering lifecycle. Jean’s talk will be an excellent case study used in future classes.”
Scott Firsing, PhD., head of Alsim’s US sales and business development says, “This is a very exciting time for Alsim. Our innovation and continued expertise in flight simulation allows us opportunities to educate future engineers. It was our honor to collaborate with Dr. Loper and her students at Georgia Tech and we look forward to similar instances in the future.”

Alsim’s AL250 flight simulator will be available for demonstration flights during the Singapore Airshow next week at the Changi Exhibition Centre. Media, flight schools, universities and visitors willing to fly the simulator are all welcome and can request a dedicated demonstration at contact@alsim.com.
The EASA & FAA qualified AL250 simulator was launched in 2016 by Alsim in response to strong market demand. This compact FNPT II & AATD simulator facilitates initial phase training (PPL, CPL, IR/ME) and comprises single and multi-engine piston reconfigurable aircraft. In addition, it offers both classic and glass instrumentation at the simple flick of a switch.
One of the AL250’s unique options is the new Engineering Pack, allowing the user to change the aerodynamic derivatives of an aircraft’s configuration and demonstrate in a real-time, hands-on, way how this affects the dynamics. Dr Harald Pfifer of the University of Nottingham, an Alsim client, explains, “students can design their own autopilot and implement it through the Engineering Pack on the simulator. In advanced integrated group projects, students can develop their own aircraft, generate an aerodynamic model for it and test fly it on the simulator.”
Alsim has already sold over twenty AL250 flight simulators worldwide since its release in 2016.
