Alsim worked in collaboration with Augsburg Airways, a German regional airline carrier and member of Lufthansa Regional, to find cost-effective and efficient solutions for airline training. This collaboration resulted in the development and production of the AL300 MCC Dash 8 flight trainer. The AL300 MCC Dash 8 is now in operation for 50% of the type-rating and 50% of the recurrent training needs of Augsburg Airways.
All aircraft instruments are displayed on large computer screens. At the same time, the ergonomic features of traditional instrumentation are maintained and the knobs and controls are located in the same positions as the mechanical instruments. The instrument layout is therefore identical to that of a Bombardier Dash 8-300. The simulated aircraft systems are complete and include: hydraulics, APU, engine management, fire detection/protection, electric systems and an auto-pilot function.
The flight profiles are based on actual data from the Augsburg Airways flight data recorder and complementary flight tests performed by Alsim.
The Alsim Dash 8-300 flight commands, allow pilots to experience highly realistic and reliable flight sensations, thanks to its electric control force feedback and entirely active flight commands.
This highly complex and sophisticated system, permits pilots to familiarize themselves with a variety of flight and emergency situations. Pilots can therefore carry out all the checklists related to normal and emergency procedures.
The trainer can be in operation 20 hours per day.
Training centres are able to carry out 50 to 60% of their type-rating and recurrent training hours in flight trainers, rather than full flight simulators.
